Summer: a time of flip flops, sandals, and smart-casual kicks. This summer I have three pairs of footwear which sees me through every occasion – a pair for the beach / poolside, a pair for the evening and white trainers for about town and everything else!
When the clocks change and spring forward the boots of autumn / winter are banned and flip flops are permitted, until the clocks fall back again in October. Well that’s my personal rule anyway!
My husband would say I have something of a flip flop obsession and my “summer shoerobe” is definitely dominated by humble Havaianas. I am not alone in this either as it seems the flip flop is having a full blown fashion moment this year and it is time we all got on board!
It started at fashion week and it wasn’t a fluke! The super-cool fashion editors and influencers had all taken to wearing flip flips with their looks. No, you read that correctly: the world’s most stylish women were wearing flip flops to fashion week. The recipe to most of their wardrobes is a simple aesthetic and effortless appeal and thanks to the growing trends in fashion functionality, the humble flip flip has taken top spot as the shoe of the summer.
One of the hottest trends for 2019 is the flamingo – the pose, the pool float and the flip flip. Flamingo Flip Flops – all the trends of the year in one comfy pair for the pool, beach, or further afield! That’s what I am sporting, grab yourself a pair of Flamingo Printed Flip Flops too.
I am not a fan of flashy logo-emblazoned sandals that have flooding my Instagram feed for a long time now. Sliders always look expensive and this year they are more polished and grown up. These black tassel slides might be the most elegant sandals I’ve seen this year. And trust me – I’ve seen a lot of sandals.

As for the white trainers. Well last year, and for many years before, have been all about the Adidas Stan Smiths. Veja trainers are on the rise and are now common place on the school run too. For me summer 2019 is all about the Valentino kicks – I love white and navy, I love stars and you can never have too much sparkle and glitter so these are perfect for me.
