Great news for adventure golf fans and visitors to Cheshire Oaks. December saw Paradise Island Adventure Golf open its is launching its latest miniature golf experience at Ellesmere Port, right by Cheshire Oaks. I headed over there on 23rd December to check out the indoor mini-golf challenges. [Disclaimer: we were invited to play for free in exchange for sharing our honest opinion of our experience here]

It’s really easy to get to, just off the M53 motorway adjacent to Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet and The Coliseum Shopping & Leisure Park. Like all good out of town shopping and leisure centres there is plenty of parking right outside.

We picked up our golf clubs and balls from reception and headed up the stairs where there are two 18-hole mini-golf courses, The Lazy Lagoon course and The Coral Cove course. We set off on the middle eastern themed Lazy Lagoon course first and it became quickly apparent that the children were all significantly better than me! I apologise for the quality of the photography, but I really had to focus on the game in hand as they whipped me on pretty much every hole! Which of course they loved.

Objective get the golf ball in the hole using the golf club – sounds simple right? Wrong! Round corners, through tunnels, under windmills, down dips, over bridges. Each hole was a different challenge and quickly we were rule free and celebrating a few “hole in ones” too.

Next we set off on the Coral Cove course tee-off which starts at an abandoned shipwreck and weaves through sea caves and rock pools, past a tropical desert island beach, through to a jungle and ruined temple.

The final 18th hole of the Coral Cove was one of the kids favourites, luckily there was no one behind us for quite a way so we played it over and over – into the Temple, it sounds a gong, out at 90 degrees and into the hole. And repeat!

Verdict: We had a great time, it took about 30-40 minutes to play one course. The location is great, plenty of places to eat and things to do and a great place for Dads to entertain kids whilst Mum does some shopping – this is what will be happening next time we go! I’d recommend taking a sweater just in case, whilst this is indoor the space is huge with high ceilings so make sure you have layers, a jumper, cardi or hoodie will make sure you are comfortable.
