Has your child been inspired to play tennis by Wimbledon fortnight? You sort of remember playing when you were younger and would like your kids to learn? After all, it’s a sport for a lifetime and great exercise. But where do you start?
If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook you’ll know I have two junior players and spend a lot of time at our local club at lessons, training and at their matches. It’s become a big part of our family life and not just for the summer months.
If you want to add a sport to your family you can all enjoy I do recommend tennis. My kids love to get outside and hit balls. Pharmaton have teamed up with the Lawn Tennis Association and winning Aegon GB Davis Cup Team captain, Leon Smith, to create a series of 10 videos that can help inspire you and your children to learn a new sport. The Ready To Play videos each involve mastering a different basic skill that will give your children the foundations they need to play tennis like a pro. The activities are great fun, allowing you and your children to perfect your newfound tennis moves in the comfort of your own home. Plus, you’ll only need basic equipment to get started.
Here are some simple tips and activities for your child to start learning to playing tennis:
Our household was bitten well and truly by the love of the sport a few years ago. We play at home and away on holiday, anywhere with a racket in their hand is a happy place for H and G.
I’m very proud of their dedication to training – on court by 9am on a Saturday morning, outside in the rain, no complaining – not from them anyway! Me? Well I try to be supportive at all times but occasionally I slip! I’m very proud of their abilities too and it’s brought them and us a whole new circle of friends too.
Here are Mr H and Diva G practising their tennis at a training session.

A big thank you to Pharmaton who donated two Babolat racket kits as competition prizes for which our under 8’s team are very excited to be able to play for.
