Brought to you by the letter "W"

This post is brought to you by the letter “W” because this letter has dominated my week … ·     WEATHER, WET WEATHER too – practically all week it feels like. ·     To combat the weather my husband bought me WELLIES for my birthday, an odd gift you may think, but I love them.  They are Hunters www.hunterboots.com and if you have a little boy being outdoors and preferably amongst mud and puddles these are vital.  I have coveted them for years and now I have my very own navy ones!  ·     Then there has been the WRITING of the Christmas Cards – whilst I love, love, love creating bespoke stationery I hate, hate, hate printing address labels!  Why do they always jam my printer at home?!  ·     WOOLIES – not the knitted jumper type the WOOLWORTHS type.  This week sees a high street favourite, a national institution facing collapse.  I feel very nostalgic towards woolies, I bought my first record there, spent loads of pocket money on penny sweets fizzy cola bottles and the like and more recently found it brilliant value for kids clothes and Fisher Price toys.  I will be very sad to see it go and hope it is saved at the last minute and the brand returns bigger and better than ever.  There is a petition for government help to save Woolies from the administrators...

Its cold outside …

… and not that much warmer at the printers!  December is definitely here and according to the weather reports snow is not far away.  Thank goodness for central heating.  Its been a fairly busy few weeks with Christmas orders to create, print and deliver, now there is just the small matter of writing them – thankfully stamps are self adhesive these days!  I’ve been making and meeting up with some new “friends of Dandelion Lounge” who I will be introducing you to over the weeks and months ahead, these are like minded people who offer products and services I use/like/couldn’t live without.  More about that in future posts.  At home I am enjoying a seasonal rest from my freelance marketing work, taking time to learn more about blogging and other web 2.0 stuff for Dandelion Lounge and other clients and very much enjoying being a mum to Hugo.  He’s 19 months old now and really great fun, buying his Christmas gifts has been brilliant, this year Santa is bringing him “Mikes Auto Garage” a wooden toy garage and cars from Le Toy Van www.letoyvan.com along with inevitably much, much more.  I am hoping for an extension to house the ever expanding was toy box … now section of living room … soon to be entire living room and I guess eventually they will take over the entire house!  I...

Tips for your Christmas photos

The pumpkins have been carved and the fireworks are in the biscuit tin ready to go!  I am still to choose the Christmas photo and thought I would share some of my tips for choosing the perfect photo for to your Christmas card, photo insert or birth announcement:    Choose a Christmas card design that reflects you and your family If you like a few you could order more than one design or have both a card and a photo insert Select a coordinating photo that’s sweet and simple—avoid busy backgrounds or too much action Think about the colours on both your photo and your card design —black and white photos tend to look best with a brightly coloured design, and you will want to avoid using a sepia toned photo with a brown card Keep it simple—too many frills or colors will ruin the elegance of your message! Make sure you’re camera is on the highest quality setting on your digital camera, ideally try to ensure the resolution is 300 and the image size is at least 800 x 1200 pixels Can’t wait to see your festive choices! Claire x   P.s.  Don’t forget to place your orders by Friday 14th November 2008 on www.dandelionlounge.co.uk for delivery before December (Friday 5th December 2008 for delivery before...

Exciting times…

This week Dandelion Lounge’s first Christmas Collection has been launched and I am so pleased with the reaction and feedback from customers and friends.  The final touches are also being made to the website and as it links through to this blog it is time I added some chatter to these blank pages. I have lots of occasions ahead being planned for this week – a first birthday, Halloween, Bonfire night and of course the big old NOEL is just around the corner!  Lots of lists for Mrs Lancaster, I’m heading south with the family at the end of next week for a Halloween party, then I’m having a few friends over to enjoy some fireworks (of the “no bang” baby variety!)  and I am trying to coordinate gift suggestions for my son, Hugo, because unless Father Christmas is going to bring me a house extension and a bigger garden we will encounter a space issue with cars, trikes, slides, sit on fire engines and a wendy house!  I also need to take a photo of Hugo for our Christmas card and his Thank You card, I have to confess to feeling a bit of pressure to make it really great – it is my business after all so I do need to lead by example – I have a couple of ideas and will share the end result I...
