When do you put your Christmas decorations up? It’s a hot topic right now. I tend to get mine down from the loft mid November and start putting bits and pieces out from the end of November. The tree doesn’t happen until at least the second weekend of December. We go for a real tree and anything much before 14th December doesn’t make it to New Year in my experience.
I was set a little challenge to indulge my festive decor whims at Wilko who have just opened a new store near me in Stockport at the Peel Centre. I was new to Wilko, home of family value and great savings, but what a treasure trove of delights for the home are inside. I’ve already been back twice since my first trip – why didn’t anyone tell me? You’re welcome!
The first thing to catch my eye when I walked through the door was this festive red carnival star light for just £12. My son has his eye on this as an all year round addition to his bedroom!
I couldn’t have the star and leave Joy on the shelf, not for £15. This light really does bring me Joy.
It wouldn’t be Christmas in my home without candles. I loved this silver charger for just £2.50, perfect to group my current collection all together. If you fancy a new scented candle or two do check out my ultimate candle guide for my pick of the best.
I’ll be honest I wasn’t sure how tasteful a Christmas tree could look with low cost decorations, so it was a nice surprise to find really pretty, glittery and sparkling decorations. These ranged in price from 80p to £3.00 for a pack of 20 and combined together on my white twig tree they really do create a look significantly more expensive than its price tag. I am really delighted with the look.
I already had my twig tree but Wilko sell both twig and traditional Christmas trees, see their full range of Christmas trees online here.
The small diamond shaped tree decorations come in silver ombre shades from white through to dark silver grey and including metallic blush rose. A pack of 20 costs just £3.00.
The larger round baubles are glass and at just £1.50 I have been able to add two of every design and also there will be no tears shed if any of them don’t make it to the loft or back out again for a future Christmas.
I don’t do tinsel. But I do do beads. I filled a small glass bowl with silver strings of beads, just £0.80 for 4m and transformed the ordinary into a sparkly Christmas bowl.
I had change out of £20 for all the decorations on this tree! Wow!
All these beautiful Christmas decorations came from the new Wilko store in Stockport at the Peel Centre, and I encourage you to get more dec’s for your hard earned pound and pay Wilko a visit this Christmas.
We will have a more traditional tree in the kitchen, family, living room space. I know this is a contemporary look for a Christmas tree but I love it, I really do. What do you think?
Thank you to Wilko who sent me a voucher to meet this festive challenge. All views, opinions and images are my own.
