Cbeebies Song Time Album Review

November 26th, 2010 — 9:35am

CBeebies makes pretty much a daily appearance at this house, sometimes its for an appropriate use, lunchtime followed by quiet time “Driver Dan and his storytrain” for Lil H and “3rd & Bird” for Baby G helps keep life on an even keel.  Sometimes its a necessity *cough* a work phone call *cough* but needs must and that is why my littlies recognised a number of the tracks on the CBeebies Song Time Album which we received to review.

CBeebies Song TimeWe have been listening to the CD for about a week now, Baby G (13 months)  really enjoys having music on and definately recognises her fave shows *hangs head in parenting shame*

Especially “3rd and Bird”, “Timmy Time” and “Gigglebiz” personally I’d had enough of Justin 5 mins into the first episode I ever saw … which is unfortunate given my viewing level must now be in the hundreds!

Lil H (3.5 years old) enjoys having a boogie with mummy whenever we have the CD on, I struggle to throw some shapes to the majority of the tracks but we have had a giggle to it.

H wanted to hear the “Octonauts” which was typical as that themetune must be the only one on the schedule not on the double CD!  If you haven’t discovered them and have a pre-school boy at your house they are big news in the viewing preferences at Lancaster Towers!

We enjoy having music at home, the background music seems to keep screen time down on most days.  Its a double CD with 50 tracks so plenty of audio to play, each track is short as they are the actual show theme tunes, my mini’s recognised their favourite shows.  I’d have liked the in between show songs to be on there you know the one … Summer, summer, summer time …. *twirls umbrella & dances around the living room like a loon*

You can buy CBeebies Song Time at Play.com and Amazon and all good online and high street retailers a great easy to post Christmas pressie or stocking filler.

A wife’s thank you

November 14th, 2010 — 11:21pm

This landed in my inbox this evening, I laughed so I’m sharing…

Dear Tide

I am writing to say what an excellent product you have.
I’ve used it all of my married life, as my Mom always told me it was the best.
Now that I am in my fifties I find it even better!
In fact, about a month ago, I spilled some red wine on my new white blouse
My inconsiderate and uncaring husband started to belittle me about how clumsy I was, and generally started becoming
a pain in the neck.

One thing led to another and somehow I ended up with his blood on my new white blouse!
I grabbed my bottle of Tide with bleach alternative, to my surprise and satisfaction, all of the stains came out!
In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives who came by yesterday told me that the DNA tests on my blouse were negative
and then my attorney called and said that I was no longer considered a suspect in the disappearance of my husband.

What a relief!
Going through menopause is bad enough without being a murder suspect!
I thank you, once again, for having a great product.

Well, gotta go, have to write to the Hefty bag people.

Fancy a cuppa?

November 12th, 2010 — 10:13pm

I don’t think I have told you much about my other half have I?  Well Mr L works in shop fitting, he works with teams of shop fitters who have through their own gobsmacking – *palm, face* “they did NOT” actions have gained themselves the endearing title of “Chimps”.  There are many, many, MANY, stories about “The Chimps” and tonight I was treated to a new one.

So there I am in the kitchen busying about getting the kids tea ready …

Mr L:  I wish I had a blog, I could write all my chimp stories up.

Me:  Why?  What’s happened?  If its any good I’ll blog about it and see if anyone is interested.

Mr L:  Its just last night after the night shift, I was finishing up the paper work & I said to one of the chimps go and get a flask of tea for the journey home.

Chimp:  No problem & off he scurried with the flask.

Mr L:  So I finished up and headed back to the van to see him heading back to the van with the flask.  Great, we have tea and can get straight off home.  In we jumped and headed off.

[Me:  Can you move I need to get in the fridge, I am still listening... ]

Mr L:  The chimp then says..

Chimp:  They didn’t have any tea in the canteen.

Mr L:  I said that’s OK, coffee is alright.

Chimp:  They didn’t have any coffee either.

* Note Mr L starts laughing as he is retelling this at this point *

Mr L:  So I am worried about what the hell is in the flask!  So what have you made? I asked the chimp!

Chimp:   Well they had some onion gravy granules so I have made a flask of onion gravy.

Mr L, Me, The Universe:     *   SILENCE   *   *  LAUGHTER   *

Chimp:  Its just like that posh French Onion soup you get.

Mr L, Me, The Universe:     No, no its NOT!

What’s extra amusing to me is that this chimp he applied and been refused to go on “Come Dine With Me” FOUR times… what’s your starter Bisto and Bread?!

Winter Wellness

November 11th, 2010 — 2:23pm

Nurofen for Children is my best friend and Baby G’s best friend right now.  My poor little girlie has been having frankly a torrid time teething, combined with the MMR and a development spurt to being able to pull herself up we have had very little sleep and a lot of tears.  I picked up some extra syringes at The Baby Show in October and there is one in almost every room in the house now.  The Nurofen PR sent me a carry case for my the children’s bottle and my goodness it has been useful!

Before I had children I didn’t have a first aid kit.  Of course I had headache tablets in my handbag for hangovers, natch!  Now I have a cupboard resembling a miniature Boots and with the Winter approaching, sniffles, coughs and cold imminent I am reviewing its contents … Calpol, Nurofen, plasters (huge variety of), arnica cream – check!  I am wondering what everyone else has in their armoury, what are your first aid and winter wellness essentials?

Bonfire Buns

November 2nd, 2010 — 9:44pm

Here are our Bonfire buns! Nom, nom, nom!

They are super easy & involve chocolate matchmakers, let’s face it any opportunity outside of Christmas to eat matchmakers is a bonus!

Just make a batch of Victoria sponge buns (born after 1985 you know these as cupcakes!) let them cool, peel the cases off, turn upside down, cover in chocolate butter icing & stick snapped up matchmakers on. Lil’ H added jelly tots for flames!

Have a fun, warm & safe bonfire night folks!
